Keep an eye out for 35% discounts on spirits, often on Thursdays. Also, does it have auto-checkouts?

Yes it seems to have a couple.

Did you know that in the UK 75% of checkouts are now auto/self scan and that many manual tills have been removed? We noticed this in August and it was very efficient. We also used family Tesco Club Cards for discounts with no questions asked.
In Olivos and Acassuso the two Carrefours now have auto checkouts and they work quite well when customers pay attention to the instructions and payment can now be made using NFC (wireless card) although I have yet to use my phone for that. As far as I know, Mercadopago is the only company that has that phone function.
Anyway, at least Argentina is moving forward in this respect, except for queuing.
The missus has paid using her phone at the other supermarkets here so she's pretty clued up on the procedure. I'm just the lackey and never have my phone with me anyway. I'd better ask her to show me how it works.
They were using the self service checkouts before we left the UK so looks as if Chivilcoy's finally caught up!!
Yes, I use my phone with certain bank apps, but only by scanning a QR code. With NFC you just point the phone at the terminal and it pays.

Yeah that's how it works in Vea and La Anonima. In YPF she has to scan the QR code.

I have only used QR to pay. Still deciding if like having NFC always on. MODO app linked to your bank will do NFC. Link your debit or credit card to Google or Apple pay to use those with NFC
I saw a girl swiping her phone on the bus (instead of the SUBE card) the other day, but I don't think she was using her Android Wallet. It seemed an app, but I wasn't familiar enough to see which app.
I have learned the joy of NCF payments in Italy, I have been using it extensively as I can "forget" my physical wallet at home and still be able to buy a refreshing drink when I am out jogging. The only drawback is that in my home town, you can't buy cigarettes using cards in most places, only cash. This is because the revenue they have on cigarette is lower than the card transaction fee. Bummer!
The automatic cigarette machine also isn't equipped with NCF, except the one in the main square, which is always out of cigarettes anyway.
I used my phone everywhere in the UK, including the pub and very rarely used cash. The only drawback being that it's far too easy.
Yes, it is easy to lose track of expenditures when you are using cards, but it is so much more convenient than bringing loads of cash with you like we have to do in Argentina.
Carrefour feedback from the locals so far has been positive. We popped into Vea yesterday and the amount of offers they had was impressive.....many even cheaper than Carrefour.
While La Anonima OTOH seem to be acting as if Carrefour doesn't exist.
Competition brings prices down....who would have believed it.

That is what is possible with the SUBE app, correct?

I don't know because the SUBE app for iPhone has not been working for a few months.
