For now, no charges were pressed against him because it is considered a case of legitimate defense.
It does seem to be a case of legitimate self defense, but in his shoes, I would be concerned that there could be charges in the future, because of the slant toward perpetrators and against victims.

Although to us it seems completely okay how Chocobar acted, in Argentina they are still debating daily on whether Chocobar should be arrested or not. Apparently, they say there was no need to shot the guy, as he was already done stabbing the American tourist and was running away. Chocobar shot him in the back, and this is considered unfair.

It seems law here is determined to give the criminals as much chances as possible to get away with their deeds.
