Shrinkflation in Argentina

    living in the city, we don’t have the suburban advantage of an actual yard or garden, where we could dig up a bit of soil to use for a potted plant. So we buy soil, compost actually, as that’s all the neighborhood plant store sells.

    Here’s possibly the most egregious example of shrinkflation I’ve seen: last year, a 5 cubic dl bag cost 2000. This year, a 2 cubic dl bag cost 2500, or $6250 for the same 5 cubic dl of compost that last year cost $2000.

    What is it about this product, essentially cost-free to produce, that justifies a price more than 300% over last year’s price? Increases in transportation costs, yes; increases in labor costs, possibly. But the production of the product itself? Unlikely.

    Can't say I've noticed any examples. OTOH female bums seem to be bigger....larger pasta portions maybe?
