After much farting about I got the go ahead from the chap in the bank to book our tickets to Glasgow on Lufthansa.com. It's not until May but we'll need the time to sort stuff out for when we're away.
Finally got booked to go back 'home'.

You'll be looking forward to seeing Scotland I expect, not to mention a pint or two in a proper pub!

Yes indeed....especially a pint of Guinness.

Apart from the obvious...seeing family and friends, we're looking forward to doing some shopping. The missus is already compiling a list. 😲

We went on a spree, a bit crazy really. But when you compare prices, you'll see why.

Understandable. I mostly avoid shopping here unless it's something I really need.

Great news about your trip, UK Man ! How long will you be in Scotland, and will you go anywhere else? Did you book your seats in advance?

We can only manage 2 weeks away so we'll just be staying in Scotland. Seat selection was included in the fare so they've already been chosen on all four sectors.

Sounds like you’ve gotten a good start already!

Thanks to getting a great deal in Biz class. Which we deserve to be honest after all the years stuck here due to Covid and the MIL being ill.
Two flexible tickets cost circa £5000....amazing.

That's a great deal....

Indeed. Could have got it even cheaper but needed the extra flexibility just in case it all goes tits up. BA were wanting £2000 more without the choice of cancelling for a refund.
The only negative is an 11 hour layover at Frankfurt on the outbound. However the missus wants to go into the city to shop!!

Forget shopping. Go into town for a beer!

I want you to shop for all my future flights!Mostly luck helped by being flexible on dates of course. One bonus was before I went to book it I joined Lufty's Miles and More reward programme which brought the earlier quoted fare down even more.

Never heard of that. Is it a UK site?

Miles and More is on Lufthansa.com. Its their miles reward programme.

They offer better prices to their members? Or a better price to someone joining the program?

How was your trip to the UK?
What was your impression in general since you were last there?
In the last 20 years we've been back maybe six or seven times. Last year left an impression me in that I found it to be scruffy, overpriced and lacking in infrastructure funding. I also found driving to be a game of cat and mouse with some ridiculous speed limits.
Also, I'm not one to usually complain about the weather, but last August and early September were generally wet and cold.

The trip was super with everything going according to plan. The best part was seeing my big brother again after decades apart. His new wife Gill and Cristina got on like a house on fire so the four of us had a great time. They were great hosts during the four days we stayed there. We're still on a high.
The missus loves the UK compared to here and would love to go back and live there permanently. However the logistics of doing such a thing are easier said than done. Despite that we'll see how we feel in a few months time and make a decision then.
