Horrendous. I haven’t read about this: how far does the flooding extend?

Most of the deaths are in Valencia province.

But the rain was all over the south-east of the country.

It's terrible down there and is known as a gota fria.

Spain battles deadliest flooding disaster in decades as death toll rises
Spain is enduring its worst flooding disaster in decades, with at least 95 people dead and dozens more missing.

Here the weather man explains how the gota fria is formed. It's half way down the article.

My ex lives near Castellon and my nephew near Barcelona, but fortunately they are all okay.

The mud alone is a tremendous, disgusting-smelling is enough. Anyone who has been through a flood will definitely understand and sympathize.

    Death toll up to 155.

Our three family members have reported in. All safe and totally unaffected

I reckon more deaths will appear as the flood waters begin to fall.

Been watching it in the news which made the missus start greetin'. ;(

I'm not usually one for getting upset by such news but it does look really awful. However, it was nice to see the lady smiling while holding her dog when the winchman from the rescue helicopter arrived to rescue her from her flooded house. :)

Mud thrown at King and Queen of Spain as search continues for flood victims
Bodyguards used their umbrellas to shield King Felipe and Queen Letizia during their visit
    www.independent.co.uk

There are horror stories surfacing just now about the Bonaire Shopping Mall in Valencia.

    5700 parking places , 2,000 underground.

Only today have rescue workers been able to get in as water levels recede.

Rumours of 800+ deaths in the caor park....

Horrific and I'm not surprised at how the people reacted.

Oh, man, that is AWFUL. But why the anger towards the king?

Not too sure. The people were upset as the government has done nothing.

The prime minister was there with the king but he escaped ( he actually disappeared)

The press coverage I read was very favourable to the King and ver critical if the PM

Just as I was thinking that, if I were a Spanish citizen, I’d be upset with elected officials, from local ones up to the Prime Minister. Then I read your comment, GlasgowJohn , that the PM had disappeared.

So the King was just the only available target for misplaced but highly understandable rage.

At the moment there are either 215 or 217 dead . It depends what your source is .

According to one source , there are no more dead bodies on the surface.

But there could be quite a few more in basements or in cars , which will only be found when the flood water is pumped away .

The story about the Shopping mall is still floating about. They have searched ground floor of the underground car park. But they still have to get to the second level. It might be fake news or it might be true....

There are still quite a few missing people.

Two British pensioners were identified today . In their seventies. Very sad.

Couple who 'always wanted to live in sunshine' found dead in Spain floods
The couple were found by volunteers in a sparsely populated area.
