As you will know there is zero tolerance in Argentina for driving and having one small beer.

The wife's hairdresser got stopped on Friday night after having one beer.

His car was requisitioned by BAs finest.

It cost him 1,000,000 pesos to get it back today.

Bloody hell. Out here in the sticks they don't seem to give a hoot unless you kill someone.

In the Province the tolerance is 0 g/l. In capital it is 0,5 g/l.

I bought a device to measure my alcohol level and I have tested it at home. It always reads 0% so it is more for self complacency than actually useful. A Chinese crap I bought on Temu for a swift $25. Not a great investment.

We bought a similar useless device some years ago, serafina . Though I have to say Louisiana’s law (which is now stricter) at the time allowed even open containers of alcohol in moving vehicles. I can remember going to Mardi Gras parties 50km away, with everyone including the driver sipping bourbon on the rocks.

    Check out these figures:

    Quote

Speeding is apparently at the same level as drink driving, so something is wrong there.

Which is the more serious in your opinion?

How do the limits compare with the UK and/or US?

In most US states the Blood Alcohol Level is 0.08%. I remember when Louisiana's limit was 1.1%, but, u nder pressure, the state reduced it in order to qualify to receive federal funding for maintenance of interstate highways.

Until about 1996, the semi-rural parish where we lived in Louisiana didn’t have a “closed container” law; that is, it was just as legal to have a sealed bottle of alcohol in the trunk as an open alcoholic drink in the hand of the driver!

It really was the Wild, Wild West.

I gather it’s actually the same as the UK.
Personally I’d like to see it reduced to zero

Zero tolerance for alcohol. What about tolerance for texting while driving, or just talking on the phone while driving?

I meant the same in the UK and USA as opposed to Argentina whose drink driving laws I am not familiar with.
we have a guy in the UK on YouTube called Cycling Mikey. He catches drivers on their phones and reports them.

    Don't get me started!

From up on high, I have a bird's eye view of drivers and MOST text and drive, not kidding. Not to mention the Rappi delivery moto riders who do the same.

Rappi and Pedidos Ya motorbike riders are among the worst drivers in the city. Among other infractions, they take off BEFORE red lights turn green, or even yellow. The thought that they could also be texting is terrifying.
