The Nobel Prize in Medicine has been awarded to Victor Ambros of the University of Massachusetts Medical Center and Gary Ruykun of Harvard. The two American biologists were given the prize for discovering microRNA, a molecule which is critical in gene regulation and in determining the development and functioning/malfunctioning of organisms.
