The missus has been informed this Tuesday she's to take part in a video conference with the Spanish Consul General and fellow Vice Consuls. She was told by his secretary to download an App on to her phone rather than her laptop as it would be less hassle.

As she's not done it before she asked me but I haven't a clue either. Does anyone here have any experience of taking part in such things and can offer any tips?

Zoom is the most popular these days I think. I have used it a few times

If it’s zoom just download it and just prior to the meeting you’ll be sent a link that takes you into the meeting

The person who calls the conference should provide a link.

Teams is now becoming more popular in the business world.

Zoom has fallen a bit in popularity within my immediate circle.

Ask the Consul's secretary to provide a link

I use my tablet for most video calls as it allows me to move about

Thanks chaps. The secretary told her to download Webex. She also gave her the link and told her to log in 15 minutes before the start time. I suppose it'll all be straightfoward from then on.

Good idea about using a tablet. I'll look it out.

Thanks chaps. The secretary told her to download Webex.

It is easier to use the tablet or phone, since it will just work without worrying about a computer microphone or speaker. For WebEx, like Teams and Zoom, it is better to create an account before the meeting. It is not required, but it avoids confusion later when the real meeting starts. If you really want to be prepared, practice by creating a test meeting and invite a friend today. Most important, to avoid embarrassment, is knowing how to mute/unmute your microphone. For privacy, for this or future meets, just use your first name in the account signup.
