We all know that Hezbollah, Hamas and others wish to wipe Israel from the map, but indiscriminate exploding devices? Is that a step too far?

On the other hand, when Hamas launched its surprise attack against Israel last October, the terrorist group wasn't concerned about collateral damage in the least.

It seems to me that Israel is bent on revenge at any cost.

This is a real shocker because I’m pretty sure we have never seen seen technology deployed like this before. It’s 2 days running now so what’s next?

I see a number of airlines have stopped flights to Tel Aviv, including BA.

Splinter I think you're misinformed badly about that collateral damage

I think you've watched too many Hollywood movies to believe that gunfire can cause that amount of damage

And does Splinter know that a huge proportion of the Israeli population is mandated into the IDF? Thus making everyone at the music festival a legitimate target?

In war, collateral damage is inevitable and yes, I have watched my fair share of Hollywood movies and enjoyed them immensely.

But many at the music festival were not in the IDF, not to mention the hostages which Hamas couldn't care less about, except as bargaining chips and we all know how that turned out.

I'm not sure what your point is here, but mine is that neither side, be it Hamas, Hezbollah or Israel have much regard for collateral damage (yes, that word again), with the exploding pagers and walkie talkies being a prime example.

Innocent people have been killed on both sides.

SpaceNut , Are children and old people considered legitimate targets, too? And tourists visiting Israel from other countries?

Were there 40 beheaded babies? They've not even supplied one iota of evidence. Also suggest to stop believing in cars exploding from gunfire. It doesn't happen that way like you believe in movies

There were babies and children among the Oct 7 hostages. And tourists at the music festival. As I’m not justifying the civilian murders Israel has committed in Gaza, but simply pointing out Hamas’s shocking Oct 7 brutality against innocents in Israel, I think I must be missing your point, SpaceNut .

Having pointed out that the current state of war between Israel and Hamas/Hezbollah was obviously precipitated by the outrageous, murderous attack on Israel nearly a year ago, I want to add that Netanyahu is not simply trying to protect the Israeli people but seems to be so hellbent on revenge that he doesn’t seem at all interested in ending the killing. He certainly seems to be expanding hostilities by the “exploding cigar” approach employed with the pagers and walkie-talkie devices in Lebanon. Outrageous.

There really is no need for that kind of attitude.

I have to agree, SpaceNut : I seem to be missing the point too. For those of us in the dark, please explain? Thanks.

Really? Your attitude is denying innocent people and children the right to live safely without being bombed out of their existence by a manical state

Which maniacal group that kills innocents and wants to eradicate the other are you talking about, SpaceNut ? To me, that’s the question with the ambiguous answer.

So all Zionists are Nazis, like Putin has accused Ukraine of being infested with? Is that what you are inferring?

Well finally, I'm glad you've clarified your opinion because I was confused for a while.

The bottom line is that Israel is defending its right to exist. We may not like how it's being played out and let's face it, it's been going on for decades.

Just face up to the fact that innocent people will be killed in total war.

SpaceNut , I guess you’re right about my needing lessons in reading (between the lines). I actually didn’t understand the point until hit in the face with it.

In fact, I don’t like or approve of the way Israel’s government has handled the Gaza, and now Lebanon, situation. Nor do many if not most Israeli citizens approve. Revenge goes way beyond the limits of the initial retaliation for the brutal massacre and hostage taking by Hamas.

I wonder if Hamas/Hezbollah have any regrets for starting this stage of the conflict with Israel, or if they consider the deaths on their side an unfortunate but necessary part of their publicly stated goal of obliterating Israel.
