Discovery of ship wrecked 130 years ago in Lake Michigan

    When we look out our windows at the quiet beach on Lake Michigan, it is hard to imagine that in the 19th century there was constant high traffic volume on this same lake. Yet there are an estimated 8,000 ships resting on the floor of the Great Lakes.

    The Margaret A. Muir schooner sank during a storm in 1893. Shipwreck hunters found it near the mouth of a popular Wisconsin harbor.

    Shipwrecks fascinate me, possibly because I'm a sailor and always hope that the same doesn't happen to me.
