Excellent for those who live in isolated areas like farms. It's expensive, but ultimately worth it.

Must admit I hadn't a clue what it was until I saw the article. So I went and did some research.

It gives a good description of why the antenna repeaters are essential to the Starlink service. The Chivilcoy repeater will improve the service for those in Argentina without other internet options.

What kind of research did you do, UK Man ? And beyond what was in the article, what did you learn?

Difficult to understand exactly what this is used for. The Starlink gateway ground stations are discussed often. Many in USA and several in Chile. The only one mentioned by multiple sources in Argentina is Falda de Carmin in Cordoba. https://starlinkspot.com/starlink-ground-station-locations/

This Chivilcoy news article mentions this is the 5th of this type of installation, without mentioning the ground station in Cordoba. So perhaps this Chivilcoy location (and the other 4) is only a repeater to other non-Starlink ground locations, without contributing to the Starlink satellite service. Or it is still too early to be considered a contributing ground station. Strange the news article does not mention Cordoba, or it's just sloppy reporting.

Also Argentina and the remote world has had VSAT provided internet for many years. Technology using a few High orbit satiliites vs many Starlinks in low orbit. So VSAT has higher latency but has been giving cheaper service to remote Argentina well. Here is a recent interview about the newest VSAT company Orbith, highlighting price and local friendly service, and advantages of being new compared to the two older VSAT providers in Argentina. https://www.kratosdefense.com/constellations…thout-subsidies

Just Googled it. Not that we need it but I didn't realise Argentina was already covered by it.

Yup, I wonder what happened to hyperloop...don't tell the fanboys, they're not even investing time in research into it these days

No, he bought it because a lot of people voted for him to buy it, and if you believe he's got rip off, personally, I don't think so
