Up until recently I was only drinking on a Friday or Saturday night, but I've slipped a little.

My usual is a can of Imperial Golden followed by two or three rum and Cokes maybe four times a week.

And since giving up all wine, especially red, I haven't had a headache since!

On the day before the day off, one to 2 bottles of beer. Sometimes, I actually miss the days at the weekend. I don't have to "enjoy" alcohol

I now only drink beer unless David the Doctor offers me something stronger at the pipe club meet at his place. Never more than one or two cans a day though.

I like something more than an annual glass of wine with my Christmas dinner but it’s a rude discussion!

A standard question in physical exams is “ How much do you drink?” Trying to be accurate, I once answered. “Well this IS New Orleans, so of course I drink, but never to the extent that I feel tipsy.”

Expecting the doctor to say that was goood, I wasn’t happy to hear him say “That probably just means you’ve built up your tolerance.”

I don’t drink in airport bars at 8 am in the morning like most Brits.

Other than that it’s game on.

I didn't used to drink much until we came to live here. When we lived in Scotland we used to have a glass of wine with our dinner and that was it. Even when I was single I was never really into the 'popping into the local' for a pint on the way home from work. Rarely bothered going to the alcohol section when doing the weekly shop.

Here it was a different story. Being invited to asados where booze plays a big part soon changed my drinking habits. The weather helped plus how cheap booze is here. I never got pissed but didn't think anything of havng a glass of wine with my lunch, A beer before dinner, more wine with my meal then a dram or two before bed.

I know of a few people who drink late mornings, early afternoons, and I'm like wtaf, that's too early for me to drink. I normally drink around mid evenings after having my dinner

Walk by a Wetherspoons at 10 am and you will see guys sinking pints.

I’m not being self-righteous but even I find that too much.

Okay if you've been working the nightshift or having an asado for late lunch but dodgy if not. I just got into the habit of having a glass of wine with lunch and didn't think anything of it. Since getting out of the habit I realise it wasn't a good idea.

I worked in a strong drinking culture firm from 1995 to 2001.

At 1 pm it was time to head to pub for drinks and a sandwich or whatever. It would never be an hour as I was with the partners. It would be 2 hours and more some days.

I’ve been self employed for years but gather that strong drinking culture in professional services firms does not exist anymore.

I get that bit, but I wouldn't. I would be fast asleep at that time
