The judge has dismissed the case against Alec Baldwin because the prosecution did not share certain evidence with the defense, as required by law.

I guess that the trial failing is down to the prosecution's lack of evidence

In reality, it should be down to the person on set, firing any kind of weapon, regardless if its fake, to check whether the gun is real and/or the weapon is loaded with a real bullet or not. The problem is that it was so close that even blank bullets could cause significance injuries it could cause death

I agree, SpaceNut . It should have come down to personal responsibility. And there never should be live ammunition on a movie set.

But I’m glad the trial was ended, even if on the technicality that the prosecution had evidence but failed to share it with the prosecution.

My understanding is they buried evidence. They had no plans to use that evidence, and it was hidden from the defense by placing with evidence to be used in a different legal case. Apparently by mistake.

I doubt this type of tragedy will ever happen again during an organized film production. No insurance company will ever allow real guns to be near. No live rounds, no blank rounds, only replica guns with sound added later during the editing.

Alec Baldwin's reaction is nothing less than I expected, as per the result.

This has happened before. Brandon, son of Bruce Lee, was killed in similar circumstances
