I’ve long wondered about both Argentina’s “neutrality” during WWII and the eye-popping numbers of Nazi soldiers, leaders, and convicted war criminals who seamlessly melted into Argentina.

This 2022 piece by Bowtied Mara is the first of a 2-part history dealing with these questions.

I can’t help wondering if anyone had any reactions to this?

I was preoccupied when I saw this, but it's well known that Peron was a Hitler sympathiser, as was Franco in Spain - both fascist pigs, but I haven't read this Mara post just yet.

The Luna Park Nazi gathering is infamous.

For anyone who is at least slightly interested in this aspect of Argentina’s history, Part 2 discusses the SS, the AAA, and the nazis who lived out their lives in Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil.

I'm more than slightly interested, but the USA also did its fair share of Nazi grabbing, mainly scientists such as Werner von Braun, for example.

I've known about the Argentine Nazi connection before I met the missus. Strangely enough just the other day the missus mentioned a chap here who has a German surname. My first thought was, I wonder if his family connection was a Nazi.

My health plan is with the Hospital Alamen.

You occasionally see some 90-year-old patients floating about speaking to each other in German.

Always tempted to give a quick Sieg Heil to see if they turn around to chat.....

Splinter , although the US definitely cherry-picked German scientists like Werner von Braun after the war, I’m unaware of any “rat chain” set up to secretly funnel Nazis into the US, give them new identities, and provide cover for them as they fled the Fatherland. It is this aspect of Peron’s support of Nazi mass murderers like Eichmann and Mengele, as well as ordinary Nazis looking for an escape from their deeds, that seems to separate Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay from other countries. The fugitives from justice didn’t choose South America for the weather.

I’ve had discussions with Argentine friends about the influx of Nazis after WWII, and no one has treated it as anything other than coincidence.

A new book, Hitler's Tomb (La tumba de Hitler) by Abel Basti claims that Hitler was buried in a crypt in Asuncion, Paraguay.

Basti has been immersed in this theory for over 30 years and written numerous books on the subject. However, since the Fuhrer was apparently living in plain sight in the Bariloche area, why are there no photos that can be proven not to be fake?

He maintains that the bunker suicide with Eva Braun was always faked.

I wonder if Mr Peron knew about the Nazi atrocities.

I don’t know how I missed your February 16 post, Splinter . I’ve read some of these things, though certainly not all. To read his words, that Bariloche was a Nazi city, was truly shocking to me. That Nazis, including Hitler, could move about freely and they enjoyed social prestige??

It also gave me a jolt to think of Hitler living into his 80’s, after murdering so many young, middle aged, and old people.

The burning question: did he shave that awful but comical moustache?

But to your question about Peron: of course he knew.

Thank you for the support!
