  • Carrefour today took charge of a plot of land on the edge of town here to build a Maxi supermarket. It'll have a large car park as well as a cafe. Work is expected to start asap.....the soner it opens the better!!

Finally, our weekly shopping experience might actually be enjoyable.

  • Hopefully they keep enough tills open to keep queuing to pay to a minimum. A welcome addition though UK Man

Not before time. I suspect it was only allowed due to it's location, far out from the only other two stores. It's great for us as we'll have to pass it on the way to/from the quinta so it's not out of our way. At least there'll be room to park.

  • I cant make my mind up about the Carrefour Maxi business model.

Its a cross between a cash and carry and a normal supermarket.

The two I have been in, were converted Carrefour supermarkets. But as this one is built from scratch it might be different

Funny you shold say that. This from the local rag had me wondering what they were on about.

''It is worth mentioning that Carrefour Argentina confirmed its arrival in the city, in mid-December of last year, with a view to installing a "Maxi" format in Chivilcoy, projecting to generate up to 100 formal jobs and providing a wholesale option for small businesses, families, schools. and clubs.''

  • Both normal and bulk by the sound of it.

They do both / with discounts if you buy in Bulk.

I just don't like the layout of the shop.

The two I have been in were conversions of small Carrefour supermarkets that I quite liked - but they changed everything around and I could never find what I wanted.

A new build Maxi has opened about 10kms away - So I will have to pay a visit.
