    Bloody hell!

American Airlines jet burns as passengers evacuate on to wing
Footage shows passengers huddled on the wing of the commercial airliner, which was on the tarmac, as flames burn under the aircraft.

Don’t worry: this (and the flurry of other airplane accidents and incidents since January 20) surely has NOTHING to do with the Federal Aeronautics Administration cutbacks still being carried out.

    Think nothing of it!

Let's not blame Trump for everything. This one seems to be an engine problem.

I wonder who opened the emergency wing exit? I'd be surprised if it was a crew member.

this really has nothing to do with boeing. nor the FAA.

blancolirio does a great job of diving into aviation incidents.

Why not? It was a Boeing aircraft.

Yip , but they also make planes with no slides on over the wings.

Design fault or cost saving measure?

yeah, that 800 doesn't have them. but the pilots for some reason didn't lower the flaps either.

Are they able to lower the flaps if the engines are shut down?

I imagine that's because of two reasons. The fire was an engine one and the pax opened the door themselves.
