George Mallory is a local hero to me. He grew up a 30 minute walk from where I grew up albeit with a 64 year difference.

    Good for him.

I used to read a lot of expedition books about trips to the Himalayas, Andes, Amazon, Antarctica etc. etc. Look where did I ended up. ^^

The Indian subcontinent is a gaping hole in my travel CV that I need to put right. An assault on Everest won't feature in my plans though.

Who amongst you guys have been to India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka...?

UK Man I suspect we have both read many of the same books.

Edited once, last by Bombonera: Merged a post created by Bombonera into this post. (April 22, 2024 at 3:37 PM).

I've never been one for organised group travel so those places on my own would be a step too far for my liking.

I have been to India once, but not climbing anything. Not even elephant (they are broken in by beating them with a stick - horrible stuff)

    Indeed.

I've been to China several times but mostly in and around Beijing. God only knows how they treat humans nevermind animals.
