  • Where is a good place for a retiree to live in Argentina? I'm not looking for big city living either. Some place that's small, not overpopulated, that has access to medical care, banking, shopping, and Internet service. It can be in close proximity to a large city (50 miles or less). I want an area with mild winters, so I'm not really looking for something like Ushuaia. I don't have a preference for coastal, desert, or the Pampas.

La Cumbre, Cordoba is a lovely little town and not spoilt by urbanisation.

We camped in nearby Los Cocos last year, which is smaller but also unspoilt.

  • perhaps Salta might be what you are looking for? not sure how mild winter gets to be honest.

cordoba or the surrounding area might be your next good bet. mar del plata could work but i don't think i'd care to be overrun with tourists in the summer holidays

  • When I've seen similar posts here and other forums, Mendoza gets a mention. I've been but when I was young and not since.

The good thing is, whilst Argentina is a massive country, 8th largest by landmass, getting around the place by air is really easy. So a comprehensive fact-finding mission looking at different places even in a short visit is actually quite easy and cheap.

I've got to get to La Cumbre sometime myself.

  • I haven't been on the Mersey ferry in years but there's a tourist version of the service these days which goes up and down the river a bit and takes an hour or so I think. Certainly a nice thing to do in the summer.

I'm sorry we got off topic RDCOOPER101 I wish you well with your research as to relocation opportunities.
