6 months give or take, 30 April to 21 October.

I have a Claro 5GB deal for which I pay around $5000 (after discount) per month. I never use the full 5GB, so I may bring it down to 3Gb.
I'm not sure which documents you would need for a contract like that, maybe just a passport? You could pop into a Claro shop and there's on on Av. Sta Fe 1948, B1640 Martínez.
I've never had a problem with Claro and Adri has just moved away from a Movistar pre-paid plan as it was crap.

My mate recommended Claro too so I guess that's it.
I think a passport does it.

I am no expert, since I've been with Movistar even though most people say Claro is the best for both quantity and quality of data. If there is unlimited plans, which I doubt, they are only with a post-pay account. If you do not have a DNI the law now limits you to have only PrePaid plan.
With PrePaid Claro you refill with a pack as needed. Probably a 30 day 25gb "pack" is your best for $11000. I believe, not positive, if you use it all in 10 days you just top-up purchasing the same plan again. Or the 40gb 60 day for $14700 maybe?

Thanks aficionado I think something along the lines of a 30 day 25gb pack is about right. No wonder my mate laughed at me at the idea of an unlimited plan.

We have Persona with 5GB per month, and we pay 15k per month each. We have been "harassed" by Movistar for a few weeks and eventually gave in. I think their offer is 14k per month for the both of us for one year.
I often run out of Gb if I am out a lot and I have to work from my mobile. In that case, I buy an extension pack (extra Gb).

I'm surprised there seems to be no unlimited type plan. Surely every phone company worldwide uses the same technology and satellites etc.

When I visit my family in Italy, I have a prepaid plan that costs €9,99 per month and gives 10Gb of data, which is more than I need. There is a cheaper option with a slightly less data plan, but I mistakenly bought this SIM card because I didn’t know that SIM came with a default data plan, I thought it was a choice AFTER purchase.
I think in Italy there are unlimited data with slight more expensive plan. In Argentina, they would cost 2-3 times than in Italy and it would be with a non-prepaid contract!
Lack of competition is an issue here, and I think that the economy of Argentina calls for every possible escamotage to get more money from customers.

They even have a page designed for tourists. It is the same data plan I explained, though walks through the steps.

Why is it so much cheaper in Europe and South America than in the US? My plan is the cheapest I can find from any of the companies, and it is about $60 US per month. It includes nothing outside of the country. When I’m in Argentina I pay an additional $25 US per month for phone calls and texts to the US.

The prepaid plan for tourist is 11.000 ARS for 25 GB/month. The same amount of data for a non-tourist is available only as post-paid plan for 39039 ARS per month, and that's a promotional price (full price 57550 ARS). Even if I was to switch to Claro and get a 30% discount, it would still be twice as much the tourist plan. They really want impress those tourists.

It is not only for tourist. It is for anyone who wants PrePago. I have no idea what the benefit is for Post-paid Claro customers to pay so much more.

If you have virgin media and are a 02 customer you can get your phone upgraded to volt. Which means you get double data and can use it in 75 countries outside of europe for free argentina included

I'm with neither TravelAddict .
I think aficionado 's suggestion is fantastic with that Claro 11k plan and I thank him for it.

Well please try to ask around from others who have visited. I still feel confident that Claro is the best choice, but only from word of mouth from others. As a trial, I have been meaning to change our backup internet, which is a hotspot router, from Movistar to Claro prepaid but do not know when I will do that.

When we cut the cable with Cablevision/Fibertel (now Personal/Flow) a few years ago, we went with Claro for 100mb Internet and phone at home and I switched from Movistar shortly afterwards.
We had a few hiccups like workers recklessly replacing the wooden pole outside which serves loads of different functions, but leaving cables straggling all over the place (a common occurrence in these parts) and us without Internet, so I had to use my phone as a 4G hotspot and Claro upgraded my line no extra cost because of the inconvenience.
Also, ever since Adri took her number from Movistar to Claro, she has coverage all the time as opposed to patchy.
