Forums can still have misinformation, though I agree with the rest

Reddit forums have now proven the possibilities with their recent IPO this month. Not long ago they had a terrible reputation and bundled in as social media, which is why I never visited. Only in the past few years have I realized they do have useful and diverse content with a unique forum interface.

Reddit is still the cesspit that it was a few years ago. The moment you disagree with one person, they'll get their mates or followers to just disagree with you. You just can't be on their bad side

I can see that happening in many forum "subreddits". I try to stay away from the ones that might have very opinionated users. Perhaps I do not use it enough to notice. I stick to Q/A type subreddits. Still I like the idea of giving users up/down voting of post and replies.

I don't recognise these observations about Reddit. I find it amongst the least controversial and the most useful and helpful place to read about stuff and find good links to useful resources.

I was in a photography subreddit, and boy don't those people think they're some expert on photography. The hassle I got from some of them

They even had a "teacher" that was going to have a presentation of photography, of which that person had no experience at all in photography, even the mods were getting in on the act against me for no reason

Who needs more hassle? What I like most about this forum is the genuine conversations, without pretenses, and with mutual respect.

I only ever read read what's on Reddit if it comes up in a search for something I need. I would never contribute because it's populated by an over abundance of keyboard warriors.

That sounds like a terrible experience. It is unfortunate that forums like that are not moderated better.

It's not until fairly recently I've been getting Reddit content returned on searches. I rarely click on a Reddit link to be honest. In fact this is the first time I've seen Reddit discussed.

I agree. I think that is why I never visited reddit years ago. Since they started showing up as occasional useful search results, I've ended up in those forums more often.

Same here, although I'd never participate in a Reddit forum. The contributions on technical issues are very specific, hence why I end up there.

I think they're scared that if members leaving that subreddit, so to me, its just the wild, wild internet on that site
