One has just smelled the blood of an Anglo/Scottishman.
These bastards are back.
😡
Where? Been bloody freezing here today. Too cold for humans nevermind mozzies.
I reckon it'll be a while yet before they start being annoying.

In my apartment.
In my apartment.
Turn the heating down.....
In my apartment.
Sure it's not fleas?
We’re 11 floors up, so we rarely have mosquitoes until December, and even then, rarely, even though we leave the windows wide open instead of using A/C.
The sound of a mosquito’s whine in my ear is one of my least favorites. I’ve learned one thing about mosquitoes in the room at night: they like to perch on the wall above your head, before silently drifting down and biting the living daylights out of you. So when I hear that warning whine, I grab a flashlight and examine the wall. Very easy - and satisfying - to smash them when they’re not flying.
We are still in high mosquito season here, and you’ll be headed into that territory in a couple of months.
We all know about the various diseases they spread, and even taking simple precautions doesn’t always help. Dr Anthony Fauci is home from a hospital stay with West Nile virus, which has also killed two of our friends.
Almost all houses in the USA are equipped with window and door screens. Now that I’m thinking about it, I don’t remember noticing screens in houses we’ve visited in Argentina. Am I just not remembering them, or are they not omnipresent?
Here’s a gift article on helpful treatments to either ease itching or at least distract you from the annoying itch.
We have screens in all windows and doors to the terrace.
Wondering why we rarely get mosquitoes in the 11th floor apartment, I asked Siri and got this reply:
“As a general rule, mosquitoes that prey on humans tend not to fly more than 25 feet off the ground. Some species do fly higher because they prefer to breed in taller structures or trees, or they can find food higher up, especially if the wind carries them aloft.”

Think I'll just stick to avoid wearing shorts and using repellent.
We have screens upstairs where the terrace is. It would be nice to have them also downstairs, but the current frame doesn’t allow to install them. And they are an eyesore. We don’t get many mosquitos but the nasty diseases had us install screeners upstairs, where we sleep. Still, some manage to find their way in during the day and attack at night!
Ugh. I know what you mean. We had company last night, and with all the comings and goings onto the deck, with screen doors held wide open, I saw at least two mosquitoes drifting in like stealth aircraft. I ran upstairs and closed our bedroom door, hoping I’d done it before they invaded our sleeping space..
We slept with the outside door to our bedroom deck open - - screen shut - - but the interior door to the hallway closed. Happy to report no new bites. But I know we have at least two mosquitoes quietly positioning themselves for tonight.
It’s the animal kingdom’s version of very patient stalkers.
No mosquitos to report but out in the campo there were lots of butterlies about. Not so nice were the amount of flies about as well. I had a bloody wound on my hand which attracted them.
Do you read books UK Man ?
Far away and long ago by William Hudson is a good read.
He didn’t live out your way as such. His home was near Quilmes.
It’s a wonderful book.
First bite from a mosquito in months out in the countryside today. So out came the repellent.
Ah! The first bite on the first day of Spring!
Have you got any mosquito action going on yet?
Killed one in our elevator yesterday. It’s too hot for mosquitoes to want to fly, so they hitch a ride on the lift.
I thought after the 40mm rain we had last week they'd be out in their hordes especially out in the countryside. However despite the large amount of ordinary flies going about I haven't noticed any mosquitos.
Same here...a few flies but no mossies yet.
