Yes yes yes, I'll never use the public mail system for this. But using a private company like DHL. Anyone done it? Particularly to the US? Any problems or bumps? Should I be worried?
Anyone have experience mailing their Passport abroad (using DHL)?

DOOH I forgot I asked that question Sorry serafina and thanks for reminding me. I'm clearly feeling discombobulated.
I love the word discombobulated btw.
No worries, it was just to point you to Splinter 's reply, as he has experience with receiving with DHL, as well.
I just received a credit card from Italy with DHL, and even had to pay import taxes (about 15 USD) to DHL. Of course these taxes were totally arbitrary, as the declared value of the content was 1 USD for the chip and the plastic piece, so as to not raise any suspect in custom by putting a ZERO content value.
Turns out that 1 PLUS PLUS PLUS PLUS became 300+ ARS

That's fucking outrageous serafina !
I wasn't asked to pay anything when my passport was delivered and would refuse to pay tax on a credit card delivery.
I would have, but then I would be left with no credit card. I did make a scene at DHL, but they couldn't care less. They handled aduana on my behalf, nobody cared if it was a due tax or not.
