It's possible that there will be a general election later this year and the latest that the PM can call one is the 17th of December. However, the Conservative Party has just lost two historic by-elections to Labour and the writing is on the wall. In my opinion, this government, especially when Johnson was in power, is one of the most corrupt and divisive in recent years.

If an election was called today, Labour would win by a landslide, similar to when Blair won all those years ago.

On the other hand, I still find UK elections rather quaint compared to the razzamatazz of other countries.

Two by-elections, two Labour wins... in two minutes
Keir Starmer's party overturned big Conservative majorities in Wellingborough and Kingswood.

It was always said to be impossible to lose a UK General Election with such a majority but sadly the Conservatives will prove that theory very wrong later this year.

Unfortunately, British people have an inbuilt suspicion of wealth and privilege. So having a Prime Minister with a few bob in the bank before he has left office and written his book doesn't wash with the populace.

We prefer our politicians to be poor for some reason, not withstanding we are 5th or 6th most wealthy nation

I've always voted Tory never Labour. Nowadays I really don't see much difference between the two parties compared to when the unions had a big say in the way Labour were run.

Yeah no difference. Starmer will win but he has agreed and voted with nearly everything the government has done in office.

Do you know she gets £115k a year for life just for having been PM? Outrageous.

For having been a waste of space for 44 days? Jeez!

Mind you, in 2001, Argentina had about five different presidents over a period of about four weeks and each of them take a pension.

    Wankers.

No worries, @Bombonera . You can't really defend the indefensible. :th_giggle01:

I think Argentine politics is childish and out in the open, and even when something comes up, nobody protests and nothing changes. For example, the Choco scandal with 48 debit cards being used to extract cash money seems very basic. In Italy they would have at least made the effort to make societies and bids to divert money in that direction.

In Italy things are better covered, but then no one protests, nothing changes, the punishments are ridiculous or get shelved because too much time has passed.

UK PM Sunak has called a general election for the summer, probably on July 4th, but the polls are not looking good for him.

    No surprise there.

    Its confirmed as July 4th

To be honest I wouldnt know who to vote for - They are all equally as bas as each other.

Starting with the current PM who wasnt to blame for inflation rising But He says he is the guy that brought it down.

    A bloody liar ...

Dishy Rishi, as some people call him, was handed a poison chalice and the fact that he's a multi millionaire, as is his wife, doesn't help.

The mess that Johnson, Truss the Lettuce and he have created means they don't deserve to continue in government.

I would be tempted to vote for the guy on the left.

Neither Labour or Cons will ever get my vote. Though I've never voted for the Cons in my life. I doubt I ever will

As an American, I can’t help being amused that July 4 is the chosen date.
