Probably, but I let it lapse because I wasn't using it enough.

If I get the right deal I'll probably sign up for Surfshark again.

I find the best way is to install and manage my own VPN on cloud servers. Usually cost $0 to $1.50 USD per month depending on the cloud provider. AWS free tier is the most common way to start, with WireGuard VPN installed.

These days I like the Tailscale mesh VPN free plan service which uses WireGuard. Use their ExitNode feature on the cloud VM to route your traffic through that geolocation. Running at friend/family's house is also reliable. Oracle Cloud is always free when using their small ARM architecture VMs. I have a WireGuard running there, but I quickly asked Gemini AI to write these Tailscale instructions. Realize that I have only reviewed these steps without following to verify.

I need to install Tailscale as an exit node on an Oracle cloud free ARM virtual machine

Watching Joachin Phoenix as Napoleon in Ridley Scott’s film. I’m finding it tedious and irritating , but the costumes and sets are sumptuous.

Thanks. It has been on my list, though I had not heard any opinions yet. I usually do Apple plus streaming for a month or two, and then cancel 4-6 months until they have enough new things to watch.

That’s a good rotation, aficionado . I think I’ll give it a go also, so please do post any AppleTV shows you see and like. I’ll make a note of your recommendations until I sign up for it again.

    Apparently, BritBox is shutting down!

We've recently watched Messiah which was very thought provoking and worth sticking with.

Also, Telemarketers which blew my mind in terms of charity corruption in the US, not only by the telesales people but also the Police Fraternities.

I think it's being absorbed by ITV Premium for which you would need a UK TV license anyway, if I'm not mistaken.

However, the US version of Britbox is not affected, or so I have read. Do you subscribe to that?

My husband, as well. He is also a Splinter -ophile. After your last meeting, he couldn't stop speaking fondly of your accent. "Music to my ears. He could be saying gibberish or swearing, and he would still sound sophisticated". Apparently, you have the nicest British accent, according to him.

I am personally in an awe of Rice 's accent. She sounded amazing even during a customer call to AT&T.

I wonder how Rice would get on with my scouse accent. I don't have a strong one but still.

I had a Scouse girlfriend once who I met at the Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool many years ago. Boy, was she a scream!

Thanks, serafina . If I could reinvent my accent, it would be a beautiful Oxonian one. But as I’m stuck with a southern US accent, I’m glad you like it.

@Bombonera , I do enjoy British humor, and have watched MULTIPLE times, series like “Are you being served,” “Faulty Towers,” “Keeping up appearances,” etc. but even better, I love the BBC-produced mysteries, Masterpuece Theatre, etc. Unbeatable.

One or two episodes of Fawlty Towers were very well written and performed but I could never get past John Cleese being such an odious person. Just from afar obviously; I never met him.

Keeping Up Appearances was brilliant. Did you see the episode on the QE2?

Just when I was about to ask for examples of a Scouse accent, this video magically appeared!

No, I’m not familiar with it, and yes, it is fascinating!

After two to three generations of daily exposure to the Received accent on BBC tv, do you Brits find that regional accents are no longer as strong?

My accent is nowhere near as strong as it was. But that is 34 years away from home country.

Mrs GlasgowJohn always says that when I get together with my sisters and we have a couple of glasses of wine she cannot understand us.
