JPR Williams died yesterday from bacterial meningitis aged 74.
A fearless fullback, described by some as Mr Indestructible, he played 55 times for Wales. In one memorable match against the All Blacks, his face was stamped, he received 13 stitches on the touchline and two minutes later was back on the pitch.
He was also a renowned orthopaedic surgeon in Bridgend, Wales and I once had the chance to meet him and put one of my emergency traction splints on his leg.
A remarkable man.
