The double amputee convicted of murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, has been released on parole.

To be honest I'm still unsure about this conviction...

Oscar Pistorius released on parole 11 years after killing Reeva Steenkamp
The former athlete shot Reeva Steenkamp multiple times through a closed bathroom door in 2013.

Beyond "fucking disgraceful" any further comment would be superfluous.

    Why beyond disgraceful?

I still don't understand why he would have murdered her in the first place.

What happened on the day Oscar Pistorius killed Reeva Steenkamp?
Oscar Pistorius is to be released from prison on parole having served half of a 13-year sentence for murder

Well I guess I'm just relying on the reliability of the justice system there but I see a shortfall within it. That is to say, if he did the crime (the justice system concluded he did) then the punishment must meet the crime. Being released after such a short sentence for a conviction for murder after a trial by jury is disgraceful.

As far as I'm concerned, murder is when you intend to kill someone which I don't think he did.

Culpable homicide perhaps, but not murder. What would have been the motive for murder anyway?

Actually I'm wrong. South Africa abolished trial by jury in 1969.
