    Hello All!

My wife and I are retired and want to relocate to Mendoza. It looks beautiful there. We enjoy wine, music, comradere and beautiful vistas. I only plan on shipping some boxes with items we can’t part with, kitchen goods and electronics. It seems unwise to move bulky items such as furniture. I need the name of a storage business I can use to receive and store boxes until we arrive. Also, we need accommodations. A one bedroom apartment near city center would be ideal. I really don’t want to buy a car. Also, I would like a reputable apartment agent’s name and email. Online apartments prices seem very high compared to what I have read.

I have contacted the American Embassy regarding exactly what documents are required. I want to do this legally. However, I have seen examples of digital nomads who just go there and live indefinitely without any paperwork. The Argentina Embassy nearest me in Atlanta seems rather unresponsive. Maybe I should seek help from the new Argentine President! He rather seems like a man who gets things done.

I would appreciate helpful feedback. dab51555@icloud.com

All I can suggest JohnHart1776 is that you peruse ZonaProp for Mendoza and see what's available.

As for legalities, some people use an agent to take care of all that red tape, which saves a lot of running around.

Also, I would remove your email address from public view in your post if I were you. You'll get spammed to hell.

Let me know and I can take care of that.

Shipping goods ahead of time , if you do not have official residency , may cost time and money with customs formalities. Its not as easy as you think.

    I can imagine.
Obviously with my missus being Argentine helped as we had no problem shipping our stuff in a container from the UK. The company the UK removers used here are called Argenmove https://www.argenmove.com.ar/

Very professional company which we couldn't praise highly enough.

We used LiberLine (https://www.liberline.com.ar/) and everything was done under my husband's name since I entered as a tourist and had no paperwork.

If you are not a resident/citizen/visa holder prior to your departure, shipping your stuff here only means to have them stuck in customs for God knows how long, and having to pay for it. And in the end, it will be shipped back.

Terrible idea! I recommend flying with as many bags as you can and bring in your stuff on an airline. You may also investigate with your airline if they accept boxes (non-standard luggage).

I agree. Bring two 50lb 20kg bags each, and take your time finding where in Mendoza you want to live. Route your flights thru Santiago Chile. It’s a nicer airport for a short or long layover, no need to do immigration or customs or re-checkin, and then a quick hop over the mountains to Mendoza. This is how I traveled 2-3 per year over a number of years in the past.

The typical EZE-AEP arrival is complicated especially if you have never done that before. The second option of only a few direct flights to AEP (instead of more complications with EZE-AEP) from maybe Brazil or Lima, though that still means unloading all bags, immigration and customs, and then check-in bags again for the flight to MDZ.

Do a month of Airbnb, and then connect with a realtor or meet in person a realtor who you might have already scheduled meeting before you leave your home country.

The Quinta 5th section is the nicest area while still not needing a car. Easy walks and plenty of restaurants outside of the official center. Many would consider it the center. The official 1st sección center is the next area over, and is mostly business section, and the tourist hotels. It is fine to live though needs more attention to pick the right place around a nice plaza.

Depends on when the content you read was published. Prices of everything here has skyrocketed recently due to the new Government's much needed actions.
