The forum software from WoltLab is more than two years out of date and needs upgrading from version 5.4.xx to version 6.xx, complete with technical support from from the company.

A year's support and upgrade has now been bought for US$60 and the upgrade will take place in the next few days. During that upgrade, the forum will be in maintenance mode and members will be advised about this accordingly.

The system is being upgraded again today so there will be interruptions.

After the update, members' avatar backgrounds have somehow changed to a Middle Earth type forest. If it needs changing please let me know.

It looks like there is a lot of effort on the background that goes unnoticed by us, the forum members. Thank you for keeping the forum in top shape, Splinter !

I don't see Santa's hat with my template, but thanks for the reminder that it is time to decorate for Christmas.

My husband and I have a beef over the day the decorations should be put out -- traditionally, on December 8, The Immaculate Conception, but in Milan it falls on December 6, St. Ambrose, the Saint Patron of Milan.

At least we all agree that they have to be taken down on January the 6th, the Three Kings' Day.

Three Kings’ Day, also known as Twelfth Night, is the official start of Mardi Gras season. Break out the King Cake!

Many options disappeared in the upgrade, I'll see if I can get it back.

Has anything changed in the last few days? Up until about Friday I could load the site onto my hopelessly out of date Android with prehistoric Chrome and now I can't. Back to my reasonably up-to-date laptop and the response delay is such that it often times out or doesn't respond at all. It took ages to load this site just now and took several attempts to log in. First attempts to post this message failed after about one-and-a-half minutes of circling the drain. DownDetector says everything's okay but I've still had trouble these past few days.

I'm very surprised to hear that, so I'll double check on all my devices - phone, PCs and laptops...

99% of the time I use an old HP Stream laptop using Windows 8.1. I quite often get loading problems. I just put them down to my ancient system with low memory.
