I’m surprised some enterprising citizens haven’t taken care of that on a dark night.

That's because all the dafties are K supporters. I had hoped the recent storms we had would have blown it down but no. Obviously far more securely sunk into the ground than all the electricity and lighting posts that fell!!!

    Good news:

“This former LELIQ debt bomb is still being deactivated through a reduction of rates and the initial devaluation at the start of Milei’s presidency, but the main risk of hyperinflation is now a thing of the past.”

    Bad news:

“Remember: the best trick Kirchnerism ever pulled was convincing people it was finished — during Macri’s presidency (2015-2019) — just to come back with a vengeance during the next elections. It seems to be following that same playbook now.“

    Question:

Is that really the younger Christina? I don’t remember her ever being that attractive.

According to Bow Mara, this is what has been achieved so far this week

    - Argentina had the highest oil production in the last 19 years and the highest gas production in the last 15 years. (An energy surplus of USD 3 billion is projected for 2024)

    - The Ministry of Economy announced the 4th consecutive month of financial surplus. 17.4 billion pesos (Has not happened for 16 years)

    - The Ministry of Finance continues to reduce the monetary base. It awarded 11.7 trillion pesos in yesterday's tender and received offers for 18 trillion.

    - More than 10 million products were sold in this week’s “Hot Sale” vs. 5 million in 2023.
    - 346 billion pesos were invoiced vs. 86 billion last year.

    - 3,600,000 people entered the Hot Sale (30% more than in 2023)

    - Banco Nación has already lent the Private Sector 373% more than in 2023: USD 2.5 billion.

    - There were 196,945 website visits to mortgage loans pages.

Easy isn't it? Makes you wonder what the other lot had been doing all those years they were in power?

In Prague to accept an award from the Czech Republic, Milei announced that, if things go well in Argentina, he will probably be given the Nobel Prize in Economics.

Although a modicum of modesty would become him, I have to say that, if things go well in Argentina, he will deserve the Nobel Prize.

He is very early days into a challenging project. That makes him look like his focus is on the prize and not the journey that would take him there.

Maybe it is his way to keep himself motivated. I would have lost my patience sooner than him.

Yip, three quasi-awards from right-wing friends in his European trip might impress some of the people but by no means all of them.

I reckon he should be keeping a low profile and Getting some work done.

Nobel Prize? Not this year - lets see if his ant inflation measures work for the full year firts.

Agreed. He needs to spend more time on the crushing issues of this country. No one here gives a shit about prizes he may be offered abroad. Quite the opposite in fact, so he should get his eye back on the ball, ffs.

Pretty sure it'll be a while yet before the Argentne people start benefitting from all these positives that are being pointed out.

I'm not complaining...ordered another two six packs of Andes Negra from Vea last night before the offer ends. The missus will have something to say about that. =O

Why are pensioners always treated so badly?

Argentina police pepper spray pension protesters
They were protesting the president's plan to veto measures to raise pensions in line with Argentina's triple-digit inflation.

What an unfortunate statement by Milei, showing absolutely no concern about the older people in Argentina, who must rely on the diminishing purchasing power of their pensions. I’m shocked to read that the police used pepper spray and batons on these protesters, who presumably were peaceful and caused the police no bodily threats?

The chainsaw is working overtime with National Roadways (Vialidad) being dissolved for being e bed of corruption (CFK case) and countless other 'jobs for the boys' departments. It's a huge list.

Good idea to thoroughly review all. Just not good if this is done with a chainsaw, as President Musk did in the US: the waste/fraud/abuse are still there, but the blind slashing of govt employees has already resulted in serious problems for citizens and municipalities. Argentina can’t afford to invite more problems in this way.

But I'm sure that the US doesn't have the kind of eye-watering Korruption that Argentina has had for decades!
