    It's not yet clear who will be Milei's economy minister, a role that's like a hot paotato as we all know, but Federico Sturzenegger is probably going to fill that role.

    Anyway, Milei has finally arrived at the Quinta, Olivos to work out the transition with Alberto Fernandez. At the same time, Victoria Villaruel is supposed to have a similar meeting with Vice-President Cristina Kirchner, but I can't see that happening, especially after how she rudely snubbed Macri back in 2015.

    • Ministerio de Justicia: el abogado penalista Mariano Cuneo Libarona;
    • Ministerio del Interior: el expresidente del BID, Guillermo Francos;
    • Cancillería/Relaciones Exteriores: la economista Diana Mondino;
    • Ministerio de Capital Humano: la exvicepresidenta de la Ucedé, Sandra Pettovello;
    • Ministerio de Infraestructura: el ex director de KPMG Argentina, Guillermo Ferraro;
    • Jefatura de Gabinete: el ex Aeropuertos Argentina 2000, Nicolás Posse.
    • Administración Nacional de la Seguridad Social (ANSeS): la excandidata a gobernadora bonaerense, Carolina Píparo;
    • Banco Central: el ideólogo de la dolarización que sostiene Milei, Emilio Ocampo;
    • Secretaría de Trabajo: el exfuncionario macrista Gustavo Morón;
    • Secretaría Legal y Técnica: el abogado de Milei, Diego Spagnuolo;
    • Cultura: el productor teatral Leo Cifelli;
    • Conicet: el médico veterinario Daniel Salamone

    Diana Mondino has a very good command of English, in stark comparison with the current foreign minister, Cafiero.

    Posse - I know him fairly well from his time as CEO of Interbaires , the guys who run the duty free shops at Ezeiza and Aeroparque. When they were sold he went on to work with airport authority Corporacion America /Aeropuertos Argentinos2000 , where he was in charge of one of Eurnekians pet projects - a railway tunnel under the Andes to link with Chile's Pacific ports. Early in his career , he was Managing Director of Red Bull Argentina

    He took leave of absence form Corporacion America in August to plan and control Milei's election campaign

    Francos , as well as his post in BID, also worked for Corporacion America. I met him couple of times and he seemed quite sensible guy , unlike most Argentine politicians

    I've Googled this like crazy but all the videos of Milei speaking English are fake, so I don't know the answer.

    Anyway, I've just come across the Libertad government plan (pdf) for completely breaking up the system and rebuilding it.

    The original in Spanish and the other in English, translated by DeepL.

    Milei - not sure abouthim , he may speak some but he doesn't admit to it. He did some interviews with US journalists but spoke in Spanish.

    Posse speaks very good English - BETTER THAN MINE!

    Francos speaks some English

    Diana Mondino looks impressive, and it is reassuring to read GlasgowJohn ’s positive impressions of Posse and Francos.

    Splinter , thank you for posting the Milei administration’s governance plan. It appears to be very well thought out, and very revolutionary, as promised. Although I am nervous about some aspects and don’t fully understand some, I’m definitely impressed by the systematic and common-sense approach. These changes will require time; let’s hope they are given the chance to succeed!

    I like the fact that it's not an interminable document and requires no more than a few minutes to read before sleep takes over.

    I hope he's true to his word because the current government machine needs taking apart bit by bit and rebuilding.

    I like to think that a lot of his bold statements during his campaign simply meant that the current government infrastructure needs to be rebuilt from scratch and not taken out forever.

    For example, when he said that if he was elected he would put a bomb at the BCRA. I am sure that as an economist he can recognize that all countries have a central bank entity, although not as controlling (or better, dictating) as the BCRA under the K.

    Or when he said that he would privatize education, maybe it is because they do Peronist proselytism/indoctrination in public school, with teachers on a leave of absence since forever and NOT getting fired for it. Maybe in the private sector this wouldn't be possible and he simply meant to apply private school way of functioning to public schools.

    What Javier Milei Can Learn from Others’ Mistakes
    The presidents of Chile and Colombia overestimated their mandates. Argentina’s next leader can avoid a similar path.

    That's a good article and I agree with most of the points. He needs to concentrate on the economic crisis before anything else and we need to see that he's tackling it.

    Any talk of abortion, human organs and the carrying of firearms will plunge him into a mire. Surely he knows this already?

    Don’t forget that politicians are in a protective bubble. Who is going to tell him to cork it if he gets onto the Falklands/Malvinas question or wades into fetuses, guns & livers?

    I didn’t know he was Austrian. It’s not the first time that country has produced a national leader of another country of course.

    On the first issue, been there, done that: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-67487881

    And why does the second make me think of Warren Zevon?

    Ah, wait a minute....

    Compared to the previous numpties we've had it'll make a pleasant change to have someone that's actually a qualified economist running the country. That has to be a big positive. :thumbup:

    He's not Austrian, although I did see that written somewhere but now can't remember where :scratchead:

    The foreign press is having a field day with the labels they are attaching to Milei, many without even fact-checking.

    I believe the reference is simply to Milei’s training in, and adherence to, the Austrian School theory of economics.
