YouTube is cracking down on ad blockers

  • I pay for Youtube premium. It is now £12.99 a month and I wish it was a little less but I'm a heavy user and don't subscribe to Netflix or similar. I don't know how much of my fee goes to the creators I watch but at least I feel I'm being fair about it. Reading that back it reads like I'm virtue signalling. I'm really not.

  • We’ve finally cut the cord, and currently have Peacock and Netflix. Next month we’re adding YouTube TV, and plan to buy the no-ads version after sampling other streaming services with relentless self-promo ads. I assume YouTube TV’s non-premium version is also like that?

  • SpaceNut Many creators have moved/are moving to Rumble but in most cases you will find them first on Youtube asking you to move to Rumble. The momentum is slow, very very slow. Youtube still has the far higher hand in this to date. I don't see any kind of strong momentum for it to be honest.

It will take a long time to get YT's stranglehold on the content creator's market

And just like that, I am feeling 90. I have no idea what you get with YouTube Premium nor have I ever heard of Rumble.

My husband watched political talk shows and podcasts on YT, and my cat plays cat games. Right now, New Garden ads are so ubiquitous that she knows a cat game is about to come as soon as she hears New Garden's ad music!

I have a subscription to Netlifx, only, and I feel I am underusing it. I think I am paying 14.99 USD a month.

I no longer watch Hulu because I don't have that much time to watch TV anyway, and the VPN was a pain, even with Fire Stick.
