Its the day of the the Bank Industry Employee.
And possibly the Day of the Merchant Banker as well , if you know what I mean.

My pension was paid in on Friday and I was going to withdraw it tomorrow as well.
Merchant bankers, the lot of them!
We last exchanged money about 2.5 wks ago, and have been delaying doing so again, on the chance that the blue dollar will take an uptick, something that may well not happen in the pre-election crackdown on the cuevas.
Should I assume that the currency markets will be closed again tomorrow?
I was discussing this with the missus today. I said no wonder the country's in a ruddy mess when hardly a week goes by some trade gets a holiday. She blames the unions for it all.....surprise,surprise.
Seems today was the holiday for those who deliver your newspaper.

So they didn’t deliver the Sunday papers?? Odd choice of holiday.

Exactly what I said to the missus.
My local cueva has been out of pesos since Friday past noon. I went back on Saturday morning and still no pesos. And to say that the exchange rate is pretty low (875 last time I exchanged, on Thursday). I might have to go to Rice 's place tomorrow if my cuevas doesn't come up with some pesos tomorrow.

No wonder the country's in such a mess. Dios mio!
I’ve actually never heard of a cueva being out of PESOS???
Suddenly, there’s a run on pesos! People in the street are throwing away dollars and euros, which they find to be worthless, as it is actually pesos they are after! Cara grande and cara chica bills alike, dollars are being used to light the parrillas in houses all over the country, even as people re-stuff their mattresses with pesos!
Seems odd, I know! Perhaps because at the beginning of the month people have many bills to pay, hence the need for pesos. 🤷🏼♀️
Or maybe the bigger players are not willing to lose money because they paid too high while the blue keeps going down…

My guess is they already know what's likely to happen after November 19th.

… they are hoarding pesos because they know that dollars will be worthless, and pesos in high demand?

I've not got a scooby.

The official market is closed but there will be some Blue market stuff but probably Florida Cuevas are your only bet.
There is a payment due to the IMF today or tomorrow. - so that could influence the way the markets reopen tomorrow.
If they pay in USD this will indicate stability, but if they pay in Yuanes ( the swap deal with the Chinese) this will mean the Central Bank is broke.
Really hard one to call as they will be hiding the info from the people at large.
Stability by the way is a very relative term . Last night on TV ( not sure which channel) , they were talking about Massa having brought tranquility to the markets . An opposition economist said , " Dont talk bullshit - there is no tranquility or stability - what we have is paralysis...."
That probably sums it all up!

I was in the City this morning. Usual display of AFIP on calle Florida, but all back to normal on Av. Corrientes and only 3-4 arbolitos whispering Ccambio-Cambio. I didn't want to get into trouble so I didn't exchange. I'll try my place this afternoon
Our neighbors hood chinos never EVER seem to shut down their exchange functions.
I was able to exchange at 880!
