    I know I wouldn't, at any cost.

    I haven't a clue what Linux is I'm afraid. So I suspect I won't be moving.

I gave it a try when I was at the university some 15+ years ago because my friends of the IT course were enthusiastic about it. I needed so much help that eventually gave up. They even installed me Ubuntu, which was the most user-friendly kernel.Too many details to manually iron out and not worth the hassle for the kind of work I do at the computer.

If its subscription based, well, not at the moment because I'm loving Windows 11.

But if forced to do, I would disconnect all the computers that are Windows 11 based, from the internet so I won't need to

If I had to do so, it would be either Ubuntu or Mint, as they're the nearest to Windows, without being actually Windows

Mint is ok and I've installed it a couple of times, but getting games to run without all the performance (WINE) is a royal pain in the rear.

I also got tired of having to input code at command lines because I simply don't have time for that. Mind you, if I have a spare PC hanging around which isn't too old, I may give it another try just for kicks and gaming of course.

My primary is a Mac book pro that is getting old. Now slowly transitioning over to Ubuntu on a new Intel NUC that was luggage friendly and easy to customize with abundant ram. That will become the primary some day. Often have put Ubuntu and Mint as Linux when the old machines stopped working with Windows. Still Windows 10 & 11 running on Virtual hosts for the rare times I need something on Windows. I doubt I will ever use w12 unless it is free and running as a VM.

I'm very tempted by those mini PCs. The Beelink is highly recommended.

That could be good. I like the minis. They are quiet and I think most can vesa mount to the back of the monitor which saves desktop space which is what I did with NUC. Good enough for most tasks, minus GPU if want it to game. The intel NUC has a bigger chasis model that supports a GPU, though now Intel has abandoned all. They all do well as media server, and/or home automation server. For now my home automation is rPi.

I would use a Beelink for streaming Netflix, HBO etc since the Smart TV apps are crap and you can't VPN on a Smart TV.

Besides, I currently have a premium gaming rig hooked up at the moment which is a bit of a waste.

I used Nord VPN on the Fire Stick by amazon to VPN and access apps that are not available here (like the UK BBC app and the US Hulu app). Then I didn't bother anymore. The VPN didn't work very smoothly. Every time we paused it took it over one minute to resume.

I really like the AppleTV interface even though mine is a very old version. Apple has enough content to satisfy for a few months, then cancel until new stuff. Now the Miami fútbol. Plus Netflix and Amazon prime. Longer boring stories for VPN geo restriction work arounds. The iPad and the Mac can Airplay stream stored media to the device. Modern AppleTV (I think) is better and has storage to keep content. …So almost a media server solution like beelink for $100-$200 USD.

Beelink or similar Linux mini has more multi use options. Home automation, security audio,, or whatever else a always on server in your house can be configure to handle.

What about Roku? I have heard wonders about it, but when I looked for it on Amazon.it it reads "German version - works only in Germany". I am wondering why the limitation. It is pretty solid in the US.

    What about Roku?

I only have experience with the lower priced and older Roku, and never liked compared to the Apple TV. Apple is good at user interfaces, and I have other Apple devices to make the experience even better, minus only ever owed Android phones which are not compatible. So having other Apple devices is a big factor.

I read in recent reviews comparing the most expensive Roku Ultra at $100 which is still cheaper than AppleTV. It sounds like more people like the Roku. There are still lower level Roku that do not compare, but will still be good enough. I do not know about the “works only in germany” details.

This is good news if it true

No, of course 'Windows 12' won't require a subscription to use it
Rumors that the next version of Windows will require a subscription are greatly exaggerated.

It isn’t going to be subscription based, I think that some people on YT were just click baiting
