Friends from North America, alarmed by news reports of the wildfires around Cordoba, have been asking if we are ok. Being completely ignorant of the fires, I did some reading this morning.

“Strong influence of climate change in uncharacteristic early spring heat in South America”

A study in weatherattribution.org, released Tuesday, found that climate change made a September heat wave across southern Brazil, eastern Bolivia, Paraguay and northeastern Argentina “at least 100 times” more likely.

Strictly empirical evidence of this has been the actually HOT, not warm days we’ve had in the last two weeks. I can attest that in the first decade+ of the 21st century, temperatures through October were generally cold enough to require jackets (resembled the temps yesterday and today).
