The day before the presidential debate, Ba Prov cabinet chief resigned over his luxury yacht trip in the Med, exposed by his new girlfriend when she posted pics on Instagram. That was rather dumb in the first place.

Anyway, the point here is where did he get the money to buy her expensive jewellery and a Rolex watch? Especially when his tax return showed around $600, 000 pesos, yet he was able to pay his ex-wife US$20 million in settlement earlier this year.

I don't care how people spend their own money, but this has a whiff about it, in spite of Kicillof saying that it's more of an ethical issue rather than illicit. But then he would say that.

The yacht is called El Bandido by the way, which is very fitting.

We all know that corruption is endemic in Argentina, especially in this province, but this takes it to another level.

I mentioned Sr Chocolate, who was freed without charge, so that rumbles on as well...

I guess Kicillof didn’t expect an Instagram bimbo eruption. Don’t you know his wife is having the last laugh - - if, in fact, she DID get that US $20 million settlement in full, and didn’t agree to payments.

Yep. Stretching out the payments to the payer’s tax advantage happens frequently in the US. I don’t know if Argentina does the right thing and makes them get it over with immediately.

Yes but where does a mayor of one of the poorest districts of Buenos Aires get US$20m?

So he has a successful restaurant in Lomas De Zamora but I'm pretty sure it couldn't pay for his divorce settlement, so where did he get the money?

You’d be surprised to know what people will pay for a good empanada these days. It adds up to US $20 million in no time flat.

Maybe there's now a little-known empanada-dollar rate, You know, to go along with the Coldplay Dollar and every other weird dollar rate the country has!

Presumably there's a Taylor Swift rate now but I haven't checked. She arrives in a few weeks.

What kind of country creates an exchange rate purely for the purpose of purchasing tickets for a concert?

    Yeah, I know.

I’d appreciate a parrilla rate and, especially, a Malbec rate.

Everyone is entitled to travel wherever they like, as long as they can afford it and presumably using their own money to pay for the trips.

Insurralde is now being investigated for having made over 200 international flights, some in private aircraft and with his penchant for top models, more is going to come out in the coming days leading up to election day on 22 October.

Apparently this scandal has hit Massa and Kicillof's popularity quite badly.

    What's your accent?

Mine used to be Welsh when I was very little, then morphed into middle England.

Just take a look at Insurralde's mansion which he acquired on a public servant's salary, along with many others.

It beggars belief that arsesholes like him and his party will still get the vote from people who live in houses built from tin, breeze blocks, old toilet rolls and whatever they can find lying around in the neighbourhood.
