Both have pleaded not guilty to grand theft

When i stick my bag there for inspection , I dont move until the bag is going through the x ray.

why put cash in their bags for scanning anyway? I always keep cash & passport in my pocket when walking through Xray.

Hmmm...I feel dumb then.
I always believed you must have nothing in your pockets at all when going through the scanner and hence I've always put literally everything, money passport, wallet, cards etc in the tray for the scanner.
Every country has different rules.
if they ask me to take stuff out my pockets , I stick it into a zipped pocket in my hand luggage . NEVER in the tray for all to see.

Pretty sure it's your right to be in attendance when they're 'inspecting' your hand luggage. Which doesn't seem to be the case here. So I wouldn't be at all surprised if they've organised it so the passengers are being held up out of sight of their bags.
