We had the idea of ending up in Spain/UK but that plan's gone out the window. Too much work moving lock, stock and barrel, especially the dogs.
I'll settle for two return trips a year to the UK flying in business class. Far less bloody hassle!!

You can get them for less than US$4000 if your dates are flexible. I'd rather travel less than fly in economy long haul.

I've lived in Spain and wouldn't lived there again and certainly not Portugal, which I also know having sailed there, but the language would be an issue.

That was our original thinking as well until after the MIL passed away. We could then discuss it more seriously and realised it was a heck of a lot easier talking about it than the actual doing of it. So I suggested it would be much less hassle and cheaper just renting a place when going to the UK and she agreed. The missus is no longer that keen on travelling long distances anyway and neither am I to be honest. She doesn't mind me going on my own to see my family.
And your relatives can enjoy visiting you as well, since Argentina offers such complementary seasons and experiences to Scotland’s.
My bother in law and niece visited Buenos Aires in 2020 but my sister wasn't too well so didn't travel.
