Argentina met Ecuador last night at the River Plate stadium at the start of the qualifiers and although Argentina was clearly the better team, it needed this free kick from Messi to clinch the deal.

    Magic.

Great free kick. Not surprisingly he’s doing very well at Inter Miami albeit it seems far too easy for him there really.

I thought the holders got a free pass into the next tournament . Was this ever the case?

Apparently not, but the hosts do.

Argentina vs Peru tonight amid very tight security in the host country and possibly without Messi.

Kick off is at 11pm if you can stay up it.

How do I convince a 12 year old football fanatic that he cant see Messi and the rest beacuse he has to get up for school?

It's an absurd kick -off time?

    Or is it normal?

I'm usually in my bed at that time watching the BBC. If I remember I might switch over to watch it.

Ah! Okay I have seen it referenced as Argentine time as 11pm in two different places. Never mind.

GlasgowJohn , if these late matches don’t come along very often, why not make a father-son special occasion of it? (That is, if you can go back to bed once he staggers off to school - -)

The fixture list with Argentina playing Algeria on 16th of June in Kansas, England vs Croatia on 17th June in Houston and Scotland vs Haiti on 13th of June in Boston.

I'd better grab the ESPN football pack then, unless anyone has any better ideas.
