This will be the last super blue moon until 2037, but there will be one last super moon this year, in September.

The last Super Blue Moon until 2037 rises tonight. Here's how to see it
August gets not only a second full moon, but a rare Super Blue Moon.
    www.space.com

“August is almost over, but it still has a rare event to deliver to skywatchers in the form of a second full moon.

The full moon that rises on Wednesday, Aug. 30, will be a special one too, the unification of a supermoon and a Blue Moon, a "Super Blue Moon."

The moon won't appear particularly blue at this time, however. The term "Blue Moon" has nothing to do with color, instead referring to either two moons occurring in the same calendar month (as in this case), or the third full moon in a season that has four full moons.

A supermoon, meanwhile, refers to a full moon that occurs when the moon is closer to Earth in its orbit, resulting in a slightly larger and brighter appearance.”

I was awake during the wee hours, and could not believe how bright the entire sky was. I love super moons, and can’t wait to see the next one from our balcony in Palermo next month!

    :yay:

We’re having a party for neighbors and friends tomorrow. We hope the sky will be clear and the super Blue Moon will still be SUPER.

I was looking at the news, I just can’t fathom why they call it a blue moon, when it was showing a red moon

The “blue” part is explained in the first paragraph of the space.com article linked in the original post: “The term "Blue Moon" has nothing to do with color, instead referring to either two moons occurring in the same calendar month (as in this case), or the third full moon in a season that has four full moons.”

There's so much light pollution around us that this is all I could get. It was very bright indeed.

Saw it again tonight when it was lower in the sky...looked huge. It wasn't very bright due to a haze.

Just saw this article (deposed to be free for all to read) about the super moons tomorrow night, and again in September and October -
