On board is a British billionaire

Hamish Harding: British adventurer among crew missing on Titanic sub
Adventurer Hamish Harding is among five people missing on a submersible that was diving to the Titanic.

I don't know what is the obsession with the Titanic, there have been plenty ships that have sunk due to poor crewmen and most likely poorly built. They should leave the ship alone. It may have been made more famous by the James Cameron's movie, but that really isn't the excuse to leave it to rest, as its the grave for many lost souls who died on that fateful night

Humans are obsessed with sunken ships, especially the one that was billed as “unsinkable.”

I hope they can locate the submersible vessel soon. They were estimated to have 70-75 hours of air, but that was how many hours ago? What thoughts they must all be having as they wait and hope for rescue.

I simply cannot imagine the situation of those stuck in the deep, let alone the families and loved ones waiting at home.

I can’t imagine either. Like being buried alive in an earthquake, waiting and hoping against hope that you will be found and rescued. Horrible.

I could never embark in such an adventure as I am slightly claustrophobic.

I can take a lift/elevator no problem, but last time I climbed on a cupula, i was about to panic when there were other tourists descending and ascending in front of me. I told myself "never again". This was in 2007 in St. Peter's in Rome. That was the last one I climbed.

I missed on the leaning tower of Pisa and many others, but I spared myself several traumas.

I would never have gone in such a small sub as that one even if got the trip for free. Gives me the jitters just thinking about it.

The whole world is worried about them. I so hope they are found!

In this time of all manner of communication, I don’t understand why the sub’s base didn’t have constant contact with it?

If it's possible to communicate at that depth then I imagine they would have been. Which could suggest something catastrophic has happened.

Banging noises have been heard from the area the sub was operating in. That's good news.

Apparently that implies that the sub may be on or near the surface.

    "Bolted in from the outside."

Those words alone would fill me with fear.

A former passenger recalls his experience: https://www.nytimes.com/2023/06/20/us/…ble-inside.html

It seems popular among wealthy people, but his description didn't really sell me the experience. You drop for 2 and half hours, then it's 20' to take pics and back. Seems like a (dangerous) past time.

i cannot understand why it happened. For sure there was all the money and technical resources fo bring a sure exploration. it was not an experiment of an undeveped country, it was done in the most greater global power.

If we are going to explore Mars, why we cannot go down and see a sunken ship... that is the question,
