I’ve always read about rum runners, but have never known one until now.

Used to enjoy a rum until I changed my boozing habit to beer and wine only. Still got half a bottle of the Havana Club Anejo 7 Anos hanging about....suppose it's now 10 Anos!!

I like to buy biscuits and crackers, but now only the unbranded ones in Carrefour and Dia which are usually half the price and just as good.
These toasties dipped in Finlandia cream cheese (it's like Philadelphia) are great with our evening drinks.
Also in Mi Carrefour I get a 25% coupon every week to which assign a favourite in the app, which is usually Havana rum and at the auto-checkout, it gets discounted automatically!

We also love Humus but now buy Dia's own brand which is considerably cheaper than other branded Humus.
I agree. Hummus is great spreadable or for dipping bread or crackers.
I have tried one hummus product in Argentina. For me it had only the taste of salt. Definitely not a food that needs the excessive sodium warning. If I make it is garbanzos with tahini, garlic, olive oil, and lemon, plus yes, some salt. One of the few recipes when I wish for a food processor vs my blender

Personally, I think salt and sugar are overused in Argentina. Heck, they even put sugar in Nescafe Dolca instant coffee which is disgusting anyway. Though very expensive, I always buy Nescafe Gold Espresso, the powder version because it really does taste like coffee.

Speaking of which, the one I had brought over from Italy is running low. Where is currently the best deal on Nescafé Gold? I have seen they sell it also in plastic bags.
I suppose Coto at 25% on Friday is a safe bet, unless these 35% off are better.

It is so exhausting to have to chase down the various discounts and schemes, to try not to feel cheated in The Great Supermarket Casino.

The Gold in glass jars is much better than the sachets, which come from Mexico. I don't know why this is, but the jars are from either France or UK.

Thanks for the tip. I suspected so. Stuff made for the South American market tends to be lower grade even if they are by international brands! The same applies to Nutella, which tastes different here (made in Brazil) vs. in Italy.

And Coca-Cola tastes sweeter.
(But are KitKats the same, UK Man ?)

I think so. Even if not they're still ten times better than the Argentine brands. They're bloody tasteless and aren't much cheaper.

I remember reading something about that, too. I did a quick research, and while The Coca Cola Company swear the recipe is the same and that it is just the people's taste buds that perceive the drink differently, I found many other posts and articles debating over the different Cokes available worldwide. Sometimes it is amount of sugar, sometimes it is the ingredient that provides the sweet taste (sugar or something else like corn syrup)

The local KitKats are really tasty, especially the dark ones. In Dia I can get two for $2400.
Talking of non-branded food, I love these cubanitos which are also really cheap.

I got some as well, I think they're made in Brasil. Not that keen on the cubanitos unless they're filled with dulce de leche.
