Craft Beers (aka Crap Beers)

  • Craft beers are all the rage in Argentina, and have been for at least 3 years. Perhaps they are a cheap enterprise.

However, most of them are not worth mentioning, although are widespread in bars and stores.

Palermo, were beer places are as ubiquitous as homeless people on the streets, has TONS of beer places. However, my worth-going-list boils down to one, which is currently making just 5 beers. Sometimes it makes 8. I don't understand why the selection fluctuates, but I am no expert.

I am also a sucker for draught beer, so I am even more limited when going out. Unless I am at a craft beer place, nobody has craft beer on tap.

  • The Rothenburger craft brewery opened up here years ago. I'm no beer expert but love their draught Scotch Ale. They've won quite a few awards. Trouble is, it's located on the edge of town so I can't just say to the missus ''I'm popping out for a walk with the dog dear''.

  • serafina , what is (was?) the name of that great, tiny restaurant a couple of blocks from you, owned by a young New Orleans woman? Didn’t her husband or bf and his brother have a craft beer (maybe called Brothers?) on tap at her restaurant, before the craft year boom in Palermo in 2018?

Update: remembered the restaurant name: NOLA Gastropub. Is it still there? I loved Liza’s fried chicken.

It appears to be still open

NOLA is still open, but their beer is meh! Bronson is across the street and much better for beer.

NOLA is better for food, though! I didn't know they crafted their own beer. It was rather bland in comparison with Bronson. We stepped out from Bronson to have some food and ended in Nola, so we did a side-by-side beer comparison. Nola's beer seemed like Quilmes compared to Bronson's.
