I personally have a very limited taste for alcohol. I am fond of gin tonic and gin-based drinks in general, but if you compare the price of a bottle of Hendrick's gin (imported) vs. that of a nice locally produced gin (such as Aconcagua)...

There have been some steps forward as Gordon's Gin has been accessible for quite some times for a very decent price, and Guinness has licensed a local production (tastes nowhere close to an original Guinness, but that's as far as we go.)
It must be the Government's' strategy: if you can't fix problems, make the people forget about them on cheap booze.
