Alcohol and Tax

I personally have a very limited taste for alcohol. I am fond of gin tonic and gin-based drinks in general, but if you compare the price of a bottle of Hendrick's gin (imported) vs. that of a nice locally produced gin (such as Aconcagua)...

There have been some steps forward as Gordon's Gin has been accessible for quite some times for a very decent price, and Guinness has licensed a local production (tastes nowhere close to an original Guinness, but that's as far as we go.)

It must be the Government's' strategy: if you can't fix problems, make the people forget about them on cheap booze.

I like my baccy and booze cheap. I reckon the reason they don't tax it highly is to get votes.

Should say not all booze is cheap.....Scottish malts especially.

Imported products are expensive.

Locally produced booze is a decent price . You just got to suss out who makes good stuff.....

Just about to leave the house for a wee wander round the Americas - I will draw something up over the weekend and post when I can.

I've taken a fancy to this Quilmes Stout because it's not bitter at all and has an almost sweet flavour.

It's a got a bit of a kick at 7% alcohol content, so after a couple of these, you know you've had a drink!

I agree Splinter . It reminds me a little Of Tennents Sweet Stout , which I havent drunk since I was 17....

I used to like it but find it's a bit too sweet. It's certainly cheaper than my weekly 6 1 lite bottle purchase of Andes Negra. Although Vea actually had the Andes cheaper than the Quilmes this week.

One of my faves is Taddycaster's Stout, over French vanilla bean icecream! Now that's a float. Yum. Oh waiter......

Each to their own Ukman. I realize Argentinians are big tobaccy users. I have used tobaccy, and sure won't lecture another adult on his/her lifestyle choices. My friends smoke tobaccy and I smoke wacky, some smoke both. But stout and ice cream, ahhh. Root beer float we call it up here in norteville. Cheers.

Tried wacky a couple of times and fell instantly to sleep. Not a great idea if you're in the middle of dinner with friends...

That could depend upon how interesting the friends are. Could be a blessing.

Never tried it to be honest. Not even sure I know how to smoke it....do you mix it with tobacco?
