    Quite a few years ago when we were renovating an apartment and had no water for a few days, we went for a shower and a lie down at an albergue in JB Justo.

    If we figure that the average each member needs to contribute is US$40/year, that 3 cents lowers each person’s part to US $39.999. Hooray!

    Then in a year’s time (never missing any days, mind you), that could lower each member’s cost to perhaps $38.72 per year. A worthy pursuit!

    If you guys need beer money just ask! And as much as I loathe Peter Thiel, I gotta ask why so many people sign up but don't post or donate? We got the professor, the lady, the biker, two brits, one or two Scots and two yanks. And ever once in awhile a guy that wants to know how much money we have?

    I’d love to know the answer to that question, too, Gary Kipher . Why sign up for a forum if you’re not going to post?

    As for forum cost, Splinter can update when he’s back from the bike odyssey, but I think it’s right at US$400/year. Stretching the count of people who actively post to 10 would be mean $40 each. If there are only 8 of us, that’s $50 for a year of scintillating discussions.

    Since 2017, when small (fund a coffee?) donations started trickling in, I’ve split the remaining larger amount with Splinter, to keep the forum going. Never realized until very recently that it might appear that the ads were funding it. Far from the truth. I thought this might be a good time to reveal our subsidizing it.

    Thanks, @Bombonera . As founding members, neither of us has any problem at all, making up for members who are in financial hardship. But I think most are happy to pull equal weight if they just know the full picture.

    Rice, thanks for filling in the who, what, why of this forum. I just donated again. Like I mentioned when I joined, I don't chat or forum in the norteville zone. You have an open and tolerant site. No ads, no stated agenda, other than advice and info for visiting tourist, expats. Thanks. It is appreciated.
