Yes, I've been planning it for some time because a few years ago when visiting my sister's house in West Wales, I brought a piece of slate back with me. It was mined in Blaenau Ffestiniog and I always though that a nice home for it would be with the Welsh in Patagonia. My sister's house was built in around 1450 and is said to have been visited by King Henry VII - hence its name, King's Court.

Anyway, I got in touch with the Asociacion Galesa in Puerto Madryn, told them my plans for the slate (pizarra) and they were delighted.

I plan to leave on Tuesday 28th March and travel via R5 with the first stop being Trenque Lauquen, but I won't have time to stop in Chivilcoy I'm afraid :(

I had intended to go alone and I still have no problem doing that. However, a friend, who also has a Himalayan, has said that he may be able to join me in the ride down. He'll confirm in a couple of days, but I'll have to move the date forward a week if that's the case.

It's also good that he has the same bike for many reasons - breakdowns, repairs and also our average speed which will be the same.

I always did long cycle tours on my own which I preferred. However I also enjoyed doing short weekend ones with likeminded mates.

    Do you still cycle?

I don't really know the fellow who will be coming with me, but generally bikers are like minded, so I'm hoping we'll get on.

He'll soon discover that my priority after checking in to digs is to hunt down cold beer.

Still cycle but my touring days are over.

All the touring bikers I've known over the years all liked to have a beer.

How long will it take you to get there?

It's great that we can now go where we wish, post-pandemic and I can't wait to get out of Buenos Aires and on to the open road.

Harley riders are a breed apart and tend to be very clique.

Thought of you today. We were coming back from the countryside and saw four heavy duty bikers having a break at the side of the road on the Ruta 5 roundabout. I'd loved to have stopped for a chat with them but we were in a rush to get home before darkness fell.

I was mainly interested in finding out where they were from.

Is that the roundabout with a Choripaso food truck? I've stopped there a couple of times for lunch.

No it's the one after it just past the YPF and PUMA petrol stations.

Actually, I’m not sure either, but I detect a clear preference for Pumas.
