That's something you should be able to find out easily in the US. What I can tell you is, my UK Government pension which is deposited monthly here into my bank account isn't taxed. I strongly suspect yours won't be either.

I can see now why you started the thread. No, I have permanent residency here which as you'll probably know makes all the difference. There must be ways to get it sent to you here via Western Union? I know nowt about them but others here will help you out.
Yep, I'm in the planning phases but when I have visited I had no issue getting money. Just concerned about taxes if I live there.
I can't see any way they can make you pay tax. They have a hard enough job getting their own people to pay tax.

Welcome to the forum, JoseSantiago . I’m from the USA but when in Argentina, we are only on tourist visas, so we’ve never explored the tax question. My best advice is to call the Argentine embassy in DC: 202-238-6400, to make sure you are getting facts rather than opinions.
Beyond that, I enthusiastically applaud your pursuing Argentina as a retirement home. It is a wonderful place, with welcoming people. Where in Argentina are you looking at living?

Good choice. Easy to walk to so many barrios from there, to explore. And there are so many good restaurants and small museums in/near Palermo.
It will also depend if I'm on a retirement visa or not, work could move me around if I'm allowed to work but I'll cross that bridge when it comes.
Can I ask you what a ''retirement visa'' is? I haven't a clue.

Very good explanation, JoseSantiago . The conclusion I was drawing was one that would have stopped me from ever considering retiring in Argentina. Having to pay taxes in 2 countries on all income would be overwhelming.
Whereas if you are a us citizen and you work on the colonized Mars w Elon Musk you WILL OWE UNCLE SAM! I'm in the early phases of learning about this so please correct me if wrong.
The foreign income exclusion is applicable in certain case. The US also has the physical presence test which is far stricter than anywhere else.
