February 20 is national cat day in Argentina. Apparently, countries celebrate cats on different days, although since 2002 there is also an International Cat Day (August 8).
Here is Serafina, turning 9 this year, helping me with some cooking (she is holding the recipe sheet). A genuine 100% Argentinian cat. So Argentinian, she claims she is a mixed European, like most of her fellow countrymen.

Serafina is officially "mature adult" being 7+. In the last year, she has started to look older: I can see her a little thinner, her face is less puffed, she has more white hair, her fur is not as shiny before.
These are very subtle difference and I think only I can appreciate those. She is very thorough in her cleaning routine, it is just her skin changing and producing different, coarser hairs. She never had a shiny silky fur, anyway, but it used to be softer.
Her character also changed. She is more vocal and affectionate. When we brought her in, she was a little savage and wasn't keen on physical contact. She is not the kind of cat that wants to sit on your lap all day, anyway. But she enjoys staying close to her cat-parents, and shares the time equally between me and my husband. She still likes to play a lot!
She used to stay more on her own when she was younger, that's all I am saying.
A cat like Serafina is a blessing. She never wakes us up, can stay hungry and not complain, doesn't do disasters in the house and is very polite.

This is Floyd, the day we brought him home in September 2015, which makes him about 7 1/2.
He was scared to death for the first day or so but soon calmed down, until met Rachel...

Yes, probably, but not from some crazy cat person who wants to do an FBI style character assessment on us 
Serafina also looked kinda rugged when she first got here. She was rescued in Olivos, spent a night or two with her rescuer from the cat society, and then arrived at our place as a foster kitten (she was our first foster ever in Argentina).
This is her very first picture, from when I was showing her her litter box. The file stamp date is August 17, 2014 and according to the vet she was about 3+ months old. This means she was born around when we arrived in Argentina! She has been with us through everything: three apartments, our marriage, our getaways to the countryside with her, other fosters.
I can vouch for both Floyd and Serafina. Both superior in every way!

A day at the spa for Floyd always starts with his massage.
He is so cool! Serafina barely gets around it when it is moving. I remember once she actually was in front of the washing machine and when she saw the stuff rotating quick in the tumble, she run away! Somehow, during all these years she had never noticed the windows in the front of the machine.
Floyd is scared of his own shadow, but since I put his little house on the machine, he seems to enjoy the action.
If only he wouldn't bite so much! Or he bites lightly and then licks you.
