Items going out of stock are such a regular thing here, that we barely noticed when something else went out of stock during the pandemic.
A few months ago, cotton swabs went AWOL (at least in my area). No brand, size or color was available anywhere. I scoured all of the Farmacity supermarkets, pharmacies and local "perfumerías" but nobody had any idea of when they would be back. Then it was the packaged tissue (the kind you bring with you), so I bought the boxed tissue and fold them for when I went out!
In 2021 the same happened with cotton pads (used to remove makeup). They reappeared a couple of weeks later.
Today I was shocked to find out that Tampax tampons, which I stopped bringing back from Italy as they as become available through Farmacity a few years ago, are nowhere to be found. Nor offline nor online.
And while researching on the issue, I found an article dating back to 2015 describing the same phenomenon: they are imported, the K's restrictions to imports make it impossible to bring them in (and/or to make a profit out of their sale)

Local tampons do not have the applicator, so you literally have to stick your fingers up your XXX. 
I will trade KitKats for Tampax tampons, UK Man !!
