Quote
Andrew was a fisherman from Galilee before becoming a disciple of Jesus Christ, along his brother Simon Peter. He was later crucified by the Romans on an X-shaped cross.
In 832 AD Andrew is said to have appeared in a vision to King Angus of the Picts, the night before a battle against the Northumbrians and on the day of the battle an X-shaped cross appeared in the sky. The Picts were victorious and subsequently adopted the Cross of Saint Andrew or Saltire as their national emblem.
Andrew was first recognised as an official patron saint of Scotland in 1320 at the signing of the Declaration of Arbroath, which declared Scottish independence.

Have a great day all Scots, all people who love Scots, all people who love Scotland, and all people who love Scotch!
That covers a lot of ground!
