The US midterms are under way and the BBC is all over this, having been covering the build up for weeks.
Can the Democrats hold Congress? And what about the Trump effect?
Biden will surely want to hold Congress, otherwise his next two years will be very difficult.
We worked as volunteer elections inspectors until 9 pm, an hour after voting ended, leaving the late-night vote counting to heartier souls. No guns or other voter intimidation tactics like those used by extremists in the Wild West.
Came home, had a glass of wine, and didn’t turn on the TV for any coverage or results speculation.
This morning, we were very pleasantly surprised to learn that the election unpleasantness of 2020 has not (yet?) raised its ugly head. A tad of civility has even cropped up here and there, with losing candidates in some contests actually conceding to the winners. MIRABILE DICTU!
The Senate is still up for grabs. The House will undoubtedly go to the republican party, though probably with a far smaller margin than predicted. Still, as Splinter pointed out, a republican majority will mean Biden can’t move any further legislation through. And with revenge as a major republican motivator, expect to see retaliatory impeachments of President Biden.

Have to admit I haven't the foggiest what it's all about. However if I were a Democrat I'd be wanting shot of Biden ASAP.
Is that possible before a real election?
Biden pulled off the multiple democratic victories this week, so no one wants to eject him now. Is it simple ageism that makes you feel he should go, or has he done something that you feel makes him unfit for office?
Within the next year, he and the Democratic Party will have to decide about 2024. But for now, he’s riding high.
